The futurists project is an independant design research project that aimed to meet with creators and researchers of futures thoughout europe.
In today's world, discussions about futures are everywhere. Designers, researchers, big companies, citizens, and politicians are all engaged in developing practices related to envisioning the future.
In a time when contemplating the future may not seem like the most exciting task, I wanted to reconnect with those who are actively thinking and creating about it. My goal is to gain a better understanding of the current practices and trends in this field.
The objectives of this project are:
- Mapping and clarifying the work being done in the field of futures, including who is involved, what they are working on, where they are located, and how they approach their work.
- Exploring the concepts and ideas that surround futures thinking.
On a broader scale, I aim to generate insights, ignite discussions, and contribute to the exploration of futures thinking and methodologies.
Through in-depth research, engaging with creators and researchers, and exploring various concepts and methodologies of futures thinking, this project seeks to deepen our understanding of the future and its implications.
The project will produce tangible outputs, including a map of experts and methodologies, articles, interviews, portraits, and presentations in different cities. And all of those will be shared for expand our common knowledge.
While I will have the support of a diverse committee of experts who will guide and assist me when needed, this project is primarily a solo endeavor.
I may not be able to reach Mars, but I can certainly bring my findings and insights directly to you!
Why this project?
Because I love people and I want to know more about them!
I love people, and this is why I am learning ethnographic practices to go and meet people, understanding their thoughts, habbits and culture.
I love people and this is why photography and doing portraits of them makes me so happy anytime. I found in analog photography and way of showing people how I see them. And it happened few times that some of them told me that it was the best portrait they had been taken. And so I am even happier.
But I also want to know more about the futures thinkings practices that are being developed all around. To engage with people, their methodologies and their actual thinking about futures. I wish all of those insights will ignite discussions within this broad community.
